I've had some success with two websites that cater to fitness and working out, and am in the process of putting together a golf site which I think should do well also.
The qustion I have is this: have any of you guys tried jumping into the shark tank and trying to steal a nice piece of the gambling, diet pills or other major pie out there?
I'm not looking for hard numbers or anything, just wondering if these areas are worth persuing if you are playing by the rules?
Sure seems like there had got to be a nice little niche out there somewhere that needs to be filled.
We tested out several different affiliate programs and found the one that worked for us.
The challenge now is to drive enough traffic to make it add up to some significant monthly income. It's probably one of the most competetive areas. Going to take a lot of work but I think it's worth the effort.
I started to attack in March. Doing some research I knew it was competitive but I thought I could do well. I am on page 4 of the serps. I like to think I know what I am doing in regards to SEO and have many number 1 spots in other areas.
The Google fiasco has not helped any.
I turned to PPC and there is know way to compete when the top spots are getting bids of $10-$15 dollars.
All kidding aside if you already have a fitness site throw up a few links for diet pills and see what happens.
I would not put much effort into gambling or diet pills. The credit card companies are coming down hard on adult and gambling sites due to chargebacks.
How long to you think the Feds are going to allow people to buy prescription drugs online when they are going to court over non-prescription drugs (ephedra).
It's just a matter of 'how you stand out among the crowds' without resorting to shady practices. If you follow what everybody is doing then there's only two thing that can happen, either you have enough bankroll to slug it out or you have just wasted your time.
I'm on a crowded market and doing pretty well and that's without advertising.
Cheers
