Customising affiliate links without affecting tracking
What are the real issues?

When places like beFree and CJ.com say "Do not alter the link code because changes could affect traffic and sales tracking" do they really just mean don't take out the tracking image?
I often want to be able to taylor affiliate links with CSS, change the wording, add target="_blank", etc...
Does anyone know if these sort of changes will affect tracking?

Using common sense, I've never had a problem changing aff links to suit. Just don't mess with anything that's CPC.
