I have a website that is very niche market. I have never had advertisers before but would like to generate a few bucks to help pay for the site. My site drawings in a very specific user.

I get 5000+ unique vistors per month and 22000+ page views per month. I know this is not a lot but as I said it's niche market.

How do I approach vendors that have product that would benefit my visitors and how do I charge them?

I assume using a rotating banner script.

Thanks for any advice.

22000 isn't enough amount of pageviews to find advertisers, especially banner ads. Unless your site is *very much* targeted, I would recommend to join from Ad Network and affiliate sites and serve ads and see what money you can make.

And if your site attracts *specific* target audience (like you said), then you might wanna start looking at your competitor sites and see how they are working, cuz if you are new, then you can learn more from competitors who are successful - as they have been through all the ups and downs you are seeing and many more.

Check out what kind of people are doing advertising on website related to yours and you can/may approach them and even offer them free advertising for certain time and learn about the CTR and actually build relationship with them, that might end up converting these free advertisers into long term business relationship.

But still if I were you, along with looking for advertisers, I might also work on getting more traffic, cuz, I *personally* feel with 22k there is nothing much to buy and advertisers might normally be looking for more pageviews.

P.S.. For your Banner Management need, you might wanna check out PhpAdsNew, I am pretty sure you will *love* it :) It is as good as it gets and best of all, it is for FREE.

Hope this helps.

I am not sure what the minimum requirement for Google AdSense is, but if your site attracts specific interest audience, then I believe you can make good money with AdSense.

Thanks for the tips.

Yes, my site draws a very specific user. I am working on increasing my visitors. My traffic has started to climb slightly.

I have been directed to cj.com but their is not one single advertiser in my market on cj.com.

I am also considering google adwords but have done pretty well in the search engines on my keywords and I am not sure it will help. I might try it for 1 month and see what happens to the traffic.

Maybe my counts are off. My host uses Webalizer and here's what my counts are for monthly for June
visits 5887
pages 22547
Files 80212
Hits 118819

So am I using the right numbers 5887 and 22547?

Can you give me more info on ad network. Is that adnetwork.com?

Thanks for all your help

Hi cgchris99,

I guess you got me wrong about Google. I am talking about Google AdSense and not AdWords. You see AdSense is something where you get paid by google ;) something like adnetwork.

My personal experience says that one can way more money with Google AdSense when compared to any other Ad Networks.

With AdNetwork, I mean web site that offers publishers like you and me ads to serve on our web site and in return they pay certain amount based on CPM, lead or sale. However most of the AdNetwork out there aren't paying enough money, as a matter of fact more most US$ 1.00/CPM is considered good. I am personally having very good experience with Google AdSense and Tribal Fusion. With Tribal Fusion, I have received many ads for as much as US$ 12.00/CPM and as low as US$ 1.00/CPM (but I block them;) )

So I guess you might wanna check out your options, do some research on your competitors and see what ways best fits you.

Hope this helps.
