How to get thousands of pages indexed?

I'm thinking about starting a new site and using a datafeed or db dump to create thousands of pages of affiliate links. I know that many sites that do this never get indexed, or they get indexed and dumped quickly because of the duplicate content issue. Any ideas on how to make this work? Maybe additional free content or somehow hiding the affiliate links from the robots? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

For Google there is no big difference between affiliate related pages or not. So to get those thousands of pages indexed, just follow the normal rules:

1. Make sure the pages are easy to be found by the spider (good linking structure and/or site map)
2. Avoid (almost) identical pages
3. Avoid parameter names that could indicate a session-id (like in: www.mydomain.com/products.php?id=2345)
4. Get enough PR on the home page. A site with PR1 on the home page and thousands of sub pages, will have a problem to get those pages indexed. Don't forget to link back from those sub pages to the home page and/or a higher page in the directory structure.
