Does anyone know of or have any experience with a text ad rotation software?

I have been looking for something for awhile but have been unable to find anything...

Let me know if one is out there so I dont have to write my own!

I'd take a look at some javascript.

I know very little about javascript but I was able to figure out the code suggested on a search on Google.

uci,

I take it you are referring to a solution similar to banner ad serving which INSTEAD lets you serve "text adverts"?

there are a number of open source applcations that I "think" do this, PHPadsnew could be 1 of them, and a search on Google for "text ad serving" or similar could get some good results.

On another note, I take it systems like these are UNLIKELY to pass on backlink benefit on Google?

I would highly recommend PhpAdsNew, it also has the ability to serve text ads.

Hope this helps.

Hello Uci,

I also suggest to use PhpAdsnew for text ads serving. It's text ads implementation is not exactly like google's, but using html banners you can get similar or better (mixing text and images) results.

Another vote for phpadsnew. I'm disappointed at the way it does text ads, but as rfcon says, the HTML solution works much better.

phpadsnew looked great to me when we tried it out a few months back, especially if we ever needed to provide auto reports for clients.

However, since we only have a few advertisers at a time and only around 10,000 impressions daily we stayed with our minimalist and very load-time- freindly rotating js solution. Has worked great for 4 years. (yep we were one of the first to use rotating text ads and beat you googleguy!)

Another vote for PHPAdsNew as a product, though I don't know about its text handling ability.

And, vitaly, welcome to WW - however, your post isn't exactly unbiased, is it?

... and again, a vote for phpAdsNew - I've been using it to run a variety of differing campaigns for a few years now. Absolutely no qualms about it - works well, intermingles HMTML, Flash, Graphical, Text banners, emails out reports. Love it! It even supports geotargeting if necessary.

I also use and like phpAdsNew. By using the program's "HTML BANNER" feature and creating a cute little "ad box" with HTML on the top of most of my pages, I've made a small amount of cash from affiliate program links AND I've gotten comments about how cool the "text ads" are :)

I did send a note to one of the developers of phpAdsNew about 3 months ago, and he confirmed to me that improved text-ad functionality is top on the to-do list and should be in the new version.

When that new version will come out, though, he did not say.
