was just checking over a small site i threw up quite a while ago.

its been somewhat unattended since.

but i looked at it today, its about 20 pages in all, every page bar one indexed by google (or rather every page bar one has a page rank shown by the toolbar between 3-5)

the odd page has a greyed out toolbar, the structure of the site is 3 levels, this is a third level page similiar to several others on the site, it is linked to only once (the same as several other other pages)

now i checked this incoming link and this is it (ok, silly link but for some reason it slipped in like this - no others are similiar)

<a href="page-on-my-site.htm" onmouseover="window.status='http://cj.catalogcity.com';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">page on my site</a>

naturally it struck me as just a coincidence that this is the only grey toolbar url on the site.

I would have thought its down to things shifting round a bit at the moment, but did some of the guys from the BarCon mention something about onmouseovers and aff codes....

My shopping pages with affiliate links got PR0'd.

The rest of my site is still at PR5 and PR4 depending on the page.

I do not use onmouseover for my affiliate links.

Lets dispel something. Google is not, repeat IS NOT, penalizing for inclusion of affiliate links.

The discussion at Pubcon in Boston had to do with hiding affiliate links from parasites, not for purposes of avoiding a Google penalty.

There has been discussion in the past concerning whether its worth it to use of onmouseovers on affiliate links. Some folks feel they introduce too much code bloat, and do not employ the technique for that reason.

Thanks for that clarification Go60 - useful to know that.
