Hey all,

Ive been a programmer/geek/webmaster for a while now, and have a few popular tattoo websites (among others). Ive had to cap the web site to slow traffic growth cause Im not making the dough to support it(lots more traffic on the way as soon as I figure this out!). I have recently started selling some ad space, but its at a very low rate(I think). We deliver an average of 150,000 banners a day in our image galleries (the other pages on the sites advertise our catalog).

Ive done a ton of internet homework, and after trying cj.com and a few other affliiates, realized I would make more out of my own catalog. As far as selling banner as, it seems like I should be able to get a buck or two per thousand impressions, but the place Im hooked up with now is paying .10 per thousand(still a coupla hundred bucks a month, but a few grand would be better!). Ive recently found a few other brokers and have applied.

I guess Im asking about what other folks experiances with banner ad borkers/rates are, and if anyone would recommned thier favorites.

thanks for your time!

a buck or two sounds high per 1000 banner ads.
Thats more than fastclick, tribalfusion or Burst can average for the sites they represent.
1 cpm on ads you sell yourself would be good especially for a gallery focused site.

For a tatoo site as far as CPA programs I would focus on cost per sale programs that focus on things like perverted style t shirts, posters of marilyn manson or things like that.
If you can find a sticker dealer with tatoo like decals that look cool that might perform well too as lots of people who read about tatoos do not get them but might try decals or paint ons.

If you want a better more informed opinion on what I would recommend for your site you can sticky mail me the url and some info.

Ok, thats good to know about the CPM rate. Its hard to know just surfing around. The two biggest sites are <snip> and <snip>

Looks like ill be happy with my ad server and go after more traffic! Ive been looking for the excuse!

thanks

Have you considered affiliate programs for something complemetary like body jewelry? You could probably move a few navel rings or tongue studs!

We have, but we have our own online catalog we sell things through. We just havnt had the time to add body jewelry yet. Im guessing my best bet is to sell merchandise direct through our site, as apposed to setting up banners and such. I havnt had time to enter many things in our catalog, though (about 120 so far). I probably should in the meantime, but we werent making any dough from the affiliates I had there (posters/music, etc). I even targeted some galleries (perfumes and womens things in the feminine galleries)...

We're very close to makeing the site work, though. Need more time to put things in the catalog!

thanks for yer help!
