Hi,

I'm new to associates/affiliates programs, it has never crossed my mind before and now it did so I am wondering a few things about the amazon associate program.

I wanted to create a website on a specific topic, and guess what, it's about ... widgets ;)

I wanted to be able to have all the widgets products that amazon is selling (mainly books though), with some info from amazon (mainly pictures), and text done by me with links to the appropriate amazon page.

Is that how it works? ie they give you pics and links for every products you want to sell throught them or is it just a generic link?

I'm sorry I've done a couple of site search here but couldn't find anything about it.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thats exactly the way you should do it.
Put topic specific links into your text.
Use pictures from amazon
... and make some money (some make more, others less)

Good luck and have a decent look at this part of the forum.

do I have to have my site up and running b4 asking to be indexed into the associates program? or should I ask them b4 and tell them what I want to do?

Have a site up, apply, place a link and everyone is happy.
From there on you can develop your content.
Later you can also (depending on Amazon-country) ask them for tracking-IDs so that you can have different sites using one associate account.
For starters, apply for the account and get used to the associate programs capabilities by checking out their associate home.

have fun and good luck again.
