Webhosting Conversion Rates

Just wondering what they are, how are they different from other products?

Hello,

Having my own dedicated server, I decided to put up a webhosting affiliate site as a test.

I got some organic traffic, then some PPC traffic but had zero conversions. I improved the page, got some more PPC but still zero conversions.

The thing is that I've now become obsessed with it. I've put professional graphics, and css template, installed mailing list software to offer a free newsletter, and I've also put pages with web administration and SEO advice I'm normally paid to give (for the administration, I'm not a pro SEO or I wouldn't be asking this).

Still no conversions! And CJ shows I do get clicks at about 15-30% of my impressions (isn't this a bit low?)

So, before I become even more obsessed, I would like to seek the wisdom of marketers or affiliates who at least know what they're doing :) Especially since most web-hosting review sites advertising on adwords are just a table with 10 rows and 10 links.

Does web hosting in general have different conversion rates, since it's a long-term service rather than a product? Is it like 1 in a thousand rather than 1%? Could the fact that I do PPC in Miva matter? Perhaps Miva does not reach to the audience that would actually buy web-hosting? (although "buy web hosting" and "web hosting review" do seem to point to people wanting to do just that! :p )

Thanks in advance! I'd really appreciate any kind of help or advice.

P.S: I still find internet marketing and PPC fun, even with 0 conversions. Am I in need of councelling or something? :)

Miva is probably the reason you are not converting. In my experience, I never got conversions from them. Some say it is not even real traffic.

Really? Well, first of all, thanks for your reply and sharing your experience, but, Really? :)

Is this just for Webhosting on Miva or generally? I knew there was a reason nobody else was bidding on keywords in Miva! It was just too cheap and too easy.

So, any reliable sources of PPC traffic? Apart from Google (too expensive) and Yahoo (which won't let me sign-up due to an internal error)?

Thanks in advance!

MSN Adcenter is open to all now. Quite a few advertsiers have not found them yet so I find many inexpensive words.
