How much should I ask for it?

I received an e-mail from a company that has a site selling products related to my niche. They are interested in buying a text link on my site (PR5, 450 - 500 unique visitors a day). This is my first direct contact with an advertiser (I only run Google AdSense).

How much should I ask for the text link a month? Please help...

First of all, congrats! This could be a new phase in your online business!

Concerning your question:

Compare it to how much you would make with a Google Adsense ad block. And then let them give you a reason to choose for their ad, meaning they should offer way more than you can get with Adsense.

For example imagine that an Adsense block would give you an ECPM of $ 10,-. Well, if they want you to put their ad on your site, they should perhaps offer you an ECPM of $ 20,-. So if we´re talking 500 uniques a day, that would mean $ 10,- per day is $ 300,- per month. But perhaps your Adsense ECPM is higher or lower than in this example...

i'm in just the same situation as yours. some guy connected me about paying me for link ads for my site and i take about 400-500 unique visitors like you. i emailed him back and said its ok for me and asked him how much should i ask? he offered me 15$ for month and he never emailed me again.

adsense bast.s didn't give me any money also. it was always showing wrong! ads for my site and i was getting 10 cents a day! interestingly (!) the adsense links were nice ads for me,the software and services i was looking for my site and i clicked those ads to learn and maybe buy them. They kicked me out of Adsense telling me Invalid ads crap! I contacted them about i didn't earn any money from them and the ads were important for me. They didn't care!

First rule ... never, ever, click your own adverts. It looks like you're trying to defraud their advetisers to make money for yourself.

I'm attempting to find out the same answer. I have a PR of 5 and around 500,000 page views per month.

I assume placement of the ad has no impact here since these people are just interested in the backlink. I charge $225 per month with two links included. Some think that is outrageous though I have had two pay it for a year.

Has anyone know of a scale which lists the range of prices for a link?

At the end of the day, an ad is worth what you can get for it. A lot of ad brokers out there will sell you an ad on a PR5 page with a zillion other links and ads on it for $30-50 a month, I assume they must be getting it or they wouldn't bother...

If I sell some other site a PR5 link on a nice clean page, I would value mine as higher than those, but, then again, I wouldn't be too quick to sell a link on a site I don't want banned/devalued by Google...

Why would Google ban a site for selling a few links? I see a number of sites with quite a few links on them.

From what I have read, if you are selling links for PR, you may very well get tagged by Google.

Obviously, there is nothing wrong in selling advertising, that is how the web works, but selling links for PR seems to be viewed by Google as an attempt to manipulate their index and is therefore a no no.

I would like to focus on the target traffic text link, less care in Pagerank. Do you have any idea where we can get that link?
