They just deleted my whole account without any notification or warning at all. They said it was because of inactivity in the account, but I had just applied for like 20 new advertisers and got approved for a bunch of them with some of the applications still pending. CJ doesn't care. How can I start with them and start the activity if CJ just comes and deletes the whole account. I had to wait a long time for a lot of them to approve the applications. I also had tons of emails in the account and history and everything. Now I have to start all over.

I don't care if it's in the user policy that they can do that. Whenever I get an advertiser that gets deactivated or who ends their relationship I always get a warning and notification before it actually takes effect. I was just ready and about to start a bunch of campaigns today and advertising with these links and advertisers. Good thing I decided to log into the account first to check a link or else I would of been sending traffic to a bunch of non-paying invalid links for nothing. No email from them, nothing at all. The links still work, but I wouldn't of been paid!

I had been actively logging in, getting links, applying, getting and sending emails etc. and then they just cut it off with no warning. If I knew I had only a week or so to keep the account active I would bought something myself through one of my links. Anything to let them know I was using it and didn't abandon it. I don't know how many people who abandon their account actively sign in and apply for advertisers. Just their total lack of communication and curtsey.

They terminated my account when I started switching magazine sale ads over to Amazon. Didn't upset me to much. I had to assume that's what did it since they would never tell me why. Their loss.

There overall network stats probably show that if an affiliate doesn't generate a sale or traffic or some amount of activity within a month - 90 days, they never will, however, talk to any big affiliate and they'll probably tell you it took them substantially longer than that to ramp up and it may take 6 months to a year to get around to promoting a new merchant if AM is not the full time job.

From the affiliate POV, it seems rather short-sighted for CJ to cancel accounts like that, however judging from what 2nd tier affiliates that have signed up under me have done, 99% percent never generate anything. However, had they done that when I signed up, we all would have missed out on earning a few bucks. If you are new to the AM, it just takes a while to get the hang of it all.

Yeah, well I had a couple different accounts with them. For different markets/sites. The account had generated income, I had just taken a brake from promoting that market for a while and then came back to it actively with searching for better advertisers to promote. Just shows that they don't look at anything on an individual level or individually the activity and history of an account that they just terminate. Which is a shame. Sounds like everything is in some script automated for deletion after a certain amount of days or something. They can terminate relationships with whoever they want, I just wish they would provide more communication and warnings. I mean new people who come along or are not active in it for a bit and take a brake hardly are going to be counting days or reading every line of fine print to count down their deadline day to keep the account. A warning and notification would be nice. I don't see how it hurts them at all to have accounts with no activity for a while. It doesn't effect the EPA of any advertiser unless actual traffic is being generated without sales and conversions from that traffic. Each advertiser can terminate any relationship at any time as well, for inactivity etc. Oh well, the only thing I lost were the relationships, will just sign up again.

Make a suggestion to CJ that in addition to checking impressions/clicks/sales for innactivity that they should also look at recent relationships & internal communications. A warning email is also another good recommencation. Their advice to you will be click one of your links once every 90 days.

Large companies must operate this way to scale. CJ is no exception.

I was charged £7 for no sales for 90 days. I had £15 in the account so I wasn't shut down. I now switch on the adverts for one week every two months just to keep the account going. I have seen a good advertiser recently that is very relevant to my pages so I may start to use them more. I remember the email warning about the charges for non-activity.
