How many affiliate links per page?

How many affiliate links do you put per page?

Hi,
I am somewhat new to AM, and was wondering:

How many products do you display per page?
I am building a sporting goods site, and don't know if I should put 1, 10 or? bats per page.
Obviously less work to put more per page, but is it effective?

Also, I notice some of these pages are loading quite slow due to a large number of AM ads.
Will this affect my SEO?

What is the max acceptable load time for a page?

Judging by some of the major newspaper sites these days, you can never have too many. Personally, I find sites plastered in banners, flashing left, right and centre makes it hard to read the content!

I have no more than two visual ads per page, but may include text links within the content itself.

I guess it boils down to how many you feel comfortable with, and what your visitors will stomach. Testing a few different variations is probably the best way to go.

It's a matter of taste and usability. Judge with good common sense, better even: back it up with a user survey fo your visitors. Too many competing ads will kill the effort.
