Not sure what you mean. Are you an affiliate or an advertiser? Are you selling your own product or do you have a content rich site and you are trying to monetize it with affiliate marketing?

Your website should give a clear idea of what you have to offer. Once you have it up and running, you'll need to market it. Marketing doesn't mean that you have to go out and do offline sales pitches; you can market online in many different ways. I'd start reading the forums here to get more information.

Not necessary to do off-line marketing, infact hardly any webmaster does that. So don't worry about you being quiet. :) You definitely need to be smart though on how to market your site over the internet.
