When you sign up with a merchant offering an affiliate accout, they ask for the URL. Should you put your home page or put the exact URL of the page on your site where you expect to place the link? Or does it not matter?

If you have more than 1 site, do you need to resubmit to the same merchant for each site?

When you submit the form, is it usual to get an autoresponder back with the affiliate links you need or is there a delay?
