You mean you want to sell direct to the advertisers?
Good luck. You'll need it.
Basically set up a "rate card" page, and enable potential advertisers to contact you. Other than that, treat this the same as selling any other product or service.

How do I find these advertisers?
If I had a definitive answer to that, I shouldn't be wasting my time here, I'd be on a private yacht in the Caribbean surrounded by Playboy bunnies.
Perhaps if you use an advertising agency, after all their job is to link advertisers with publishers.

Look at all the sites that have similar content to yours and see who advertises with them.
Unless you site is truly vast, I doubt you would stand much chance of selling non content specific advertising.

I've been an ad consultant for thirty years. Are you familiar with ROI? If not, then you need to be because my advertisers are. They want the biggest bang for their buck. Answer the basic questions before they ask: What is your target market? How much traffic do you generate? What results can they expect? How do your ad rates compare to the competition? Do your homework and research your industry first, there's plenty of good info on the net. Good luck.
