What works with humor sites/mailing list?

I've got a humor site with a daily joke mailing list (7000 members). I've tried psychic readings, internet erasers and currenlty practical jokes/gags. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas on how to make this situation more productive?

I realize that my visitors are not very targeted and therefore probably a lot harder to convert.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out what type of affiliate program works with a humor mailing list.

I would take a look at what the big guys out there are doing. Most joke affiliate programs pay for sending opt-ins to their email list, so subscribe yourself and see what they promote on it.

aa) If your jokes are very specific, lets say all computer jokes, you could try an affiliate program with computer books on your jokes archive.

bb) Also if you know a good joke book or a CD / DVD of a comedian, you could promote these via your newsletter

I did join others humor lists a while back to see how it was done and there was some of the things I mentioned like psychic readings and credit cards. I never tried to promote credit cards as an affilaite so maybe I'll give that a twirl.
At one time there were some CPM type programs available for mailing list which I didin't pursue at the time since the list wasn't that big at the time. To tell the truth all I want to do is just break even. This is one of my "type B" sites. The chance to make any real money with it was about 4 years ago.
