Most of my bookings are in the small or mid-size town markets along with a few resort areas. I average $5-8 commission, but that's not taking into account the relatively large numbers of cancellations or the no-pays by the hotel. You don't get paid until after the stay, so the original booking commission figure is just the begining point.

I'd say DB is in the right average range..
The podunk town budget motel reservations always offset the single night $20 commissions...

Check out HRN 180096hotel.com

They now own Travel Now, but have a separate affiliate program, and links.. They have great rates, but only for major cities, US and International....

about $12 per booking is average- but can be higher or lower based on what you market obviously. For example- net rates only are guarenteed payment and vacation rentals have a higher average booking. Small town sites tend to trend lower.

For European hotels we're taking an average of around 15 euros per booking, but like Travel says, it depends on what, where and when. You'll get more per booking for luxury villas, but you may get fewer bookings if that's all you focus on.

Shop around, try a few programs and see which works best for you. Some programs don't make you wait for the hotels to pay up; they pay your commission regardless of whether the hotel eventually pays them.
