I read an article today in the paper about google and adsense and a website as a resource for what adsense clicks go for. This site sells a 20,000 keyword database for $200 and of course make claims of a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if you buy their database and do it right. I think who cares. It amazes me how journalists will reference any old website and then give it massive free publicity - like this website is some kind of authority site on how to make it work. It makes me skeptical of everything else they write.

I would be very skeptical about buying a keyword list.
The sites I have done the best on are in areas that I am very familiar with. Anyone can hire I writer to write 200 articles on mortgage, mesothelioma, and debt, but you will NOT make the money you think you will. Plus, who is going to visit your site if you don't have traffic.

You have to remember that a lot of newspaper articles aren't exactly news items, just paid content by PR firms made to look like news.

Your unscrupulous article might be an example.

many forum posts are the same way... like content in any form is hard to trust without looking at the surrounding information / history.

some PR firms actually get claims in one paper and then establish those claims as facts to build their future PR stunts from...Paul Graham wrote a good article called the submarine about PR firms.

the list is legit, but probably doesn't have anything that you can't find in 2 hours of research.
