I have just come across this forum, what a wealth of information, great stuff! I am an IT student in the UK and have a few questions that maybe someone could be as kind as to help me with.
I am doing some work for a company and they want to setup an affiliate program to have others sell their products. I have setup a merchant account with WorldPay for them, but I am having trouble finding affiliate software that is compatible with WorldPay. Does anyone know of any good software/scripts that are compatible with WorldPay?
Also they want to have a setup where to become an affiliate you first have to buy a product of theirs at a cost of £150. I’m not sure this is a great idea, but in their defence they will be offering commissions of between £50 - £100 per sale. My thinking is as they are offering such large commissions why not reduce the commissions and takeout the £150 they have to pay for the product initially. Fair point? But the company comes back and says that the £150 sign up fee is not just for their monetary needs but also a means of screening affiliates - if an affiliate is willing to pay the sign up fee then they will do a good selling job and cancellations will be low?
As I am new to the affiliate world I am not to sure about this, so some expert views would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A kiss of death. Affiliates do NOT spend money in order to send a merchant sales. I have never understood why merchants think this is a sound model? It's just MLM garbage all the places I've seen it.
When a company hires a salesman, do they tell them to BUY something before they come to work for them? Insanity.
>not just for their monetary needs
If a company needs money from the affiliate to survive, they need to rethink the business model.
There are lots of better ways to screen affiliates.
Cant help with specific s/ware, but having just integrated WP, I think it should be easy to this by just adding the affilite ID as a custom variable that is passed to the WP server, so that its avaaible for requesting after the transaction completed.
Whoever integrates WP for you can do this.
