Thank you for your participation in the Places To Stay Affiliate Link (PAL) program. Effective January 31, 2001, Places To Stay will no longer use BeFree as our vendor for the PAL program. Places To Stay will continue to pay for all bookings made from your site up until January 31, 2001. We request that you take down your Places To Stay links before January 31st to avoid any bookings for which you will not be paid. We will run final vouchers and send final payments after February 15, 2001.

In the meantime, Places To Stay is retooling the PAL program to bring even more benefits to our affiliates! On March 15, 2001, the Places To Stay Affiliate Link (PAL) program will re-launch. Please rejoin our new PAL program after this date by going to www.placestostay.com and clicking on the "Affiliate Program" link.

Affiliate programs are going down left and right.

All I can say is there's going to be alot of bandwidth freed up sooner rather than later. I'm really not all that deep into the affiliate stuff, but even from my vantage point on the fringes it's looking pretty grim. This is the second wave of the domino effect taking hold.

I've spent much of the last month experimenting and tweaking various affiliate programs. While I'd have to say that there is considerable deadwood out there that will never see 2002, I am encouraged by some of the merchant programs that look promising. One web pure-play founder has even told me that they're in the black, didn't use any VC money, and offered to boost the CPC if I didn't make money on their program.
