How can I promote my site in newspapers across the US?

I want to buy picture classifieds and panel ads in newspapers to promote my site, but I have no idea where to start.

I need to find some trustworthy ad networks that have nothing to do with the Internet.

Every search I do, I come up with Ad Networks for the net and not for paper circulation. If I were to do this without going through an ad network, I'll be paying $5000 a pop.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, http*//www.newspapers.com/usa_news.htm lists papers in the US as does http*//www.onlinenewspapers.com/

...or just contact the Advertising Department of any number of select papers throughout your intended market area.
