Every week, heck every day, we see these posts.
The Classics.

On a daily basis you can expect to see at least one of these:

A spam site is #1 on Google! or it's variant

Google is full of spam. I give up!

Then there's the Anti-Dmoz posts which are usually followed by a flurry of Pro-Dmoz posts.

But of course, the number one most frequent topic has got to be:
Help me Pleassssse.... I've Been Banned!

It's kind of funny, in a dark way, when at the end of their plea they then presumptiously appeal to GoogleGuy for help.

On the rare occasion that GoogleGuy does appear, it's usually to tell them that they've been banned for automatic queries or something like that.

Of course, it's not funny when it happens to you, and it's always nice to help out.

That goes without saying Marcia ... but I'm glad you said it anyway! :)

It goes hand in hand with; "My new site was in Google yesterday, but its gone today!"

"My new site was in Google yesterday, but its gone today!"

That's Everflux, Liane. There's a big difference between panicking and whining. ;)

Well ... if the point is to reduce the number of repetitive posts vs. just reducing the whinning "Google is unfair" or "Google is spammy" posts ... then "My new site was in Google yesterday but is gone today" could and probably should be handled the same way. The topic area could be called "Site Gone - Have I been banned or penalized?" - (See everflux). :)

Just my perspective!

The topic area could be called "Site Gone - Have I been banned or penalized?

Or how about a topic area called, "Google Guy, Help!"

It always makes me wince when I see a newbie post that kind of plea, or even worse, when others in this community recommend he appeal to googleguy.

I find it somewhat obnoxious, fully presumptious, and totally self-centered. This kind of appeal, and the encouragement of it, doesn't really advance the knowledge base because the root of the problem is what the poster did to themselves, and not what Google did to them.
