5 questions for our European visitors
The European forum is a bit different from the rest of WebmasterWorld in that it has an unusually high number of readers in relation to the number of writers. It could be because of the systematic way in which information is arranged or it could be because of language problems. Or other factors. We are not sure of the reason and have designed this little questionnaire. Please help us help you by answering them.

To do so, you will have to register. You do not have to give your real name if you don't want to and your e-mail address will not be made public, if you so desire. Registering brings you additional functionality, among other things: You can drop a flag on discussions that you find particularly interesting. These flags will work as internal bookmarks in your personal file, which you can then bookmark in your browser. You can send and receive StickyMail to other members, without the whole world knowing about it.

To answer the questions, just copy and paste them into the reply, adding your answer.

I am sorry to hear that, henki. Do you think that the translators who work for your company can help you? Or would you prefer that I e-mail a Swedish translation to you?

mmhh.

Why do a lot just read?
Well I came here in the first place to get information about german SE because its hard to find.
I actually did not get so much information about that but found a lot of useful other information( in other boards ).

The lack of english might be a reason.Another that people want information but have nothing to share to.
Maybe fear, maybe lazyness , maybe something completely different ;).

I have the feeling sharing of information is not so popular among germans ( if I look at the german boards).I tend to want to keep my "secrets" for me
as well because they are the source of my success ( if I would have any ).

But they are not secrets obviously, otherwise I would not have found them on other (english) boards.

So I want give something to people who "donīt know" because I used to be one of them and someone who "knew" told me.

Ok. its getting late and long.

When I think about it now: I would say its primary the language.

Maybe, maybe, maybe it would not such a bad idea to have forums in other languages.... but ppuuuhh very difficult issue.

???why is UK&Ireland outside the european SE ;)makes the "rest" so minor.

enough now!

webmasterworld is a great place and it gives a good feeling that the mods really care about it.

good night

>why is UK&Ireland outside the european SE

I think it is because that forum was here first. When the rest of Europe was added, it got its own forum. So now it looks as if the UK & Ireland is not part of Europe. I have been fighting a lonely battle to have this forum renamed "Other European Search Engines and Directories". Welcome to join the fight.

Maybe we have to wait until there are so many of your contrymen here to discuss German search engines, that we have to create a separate forum for Germany. That could happen in a year, you know. WebmasterWorld has recently been indexed by all major search engines and every single page is in there, including my Welcome message in German. That will make us easy to find for any SEO related search.

>did not get so much information about that [German SE:s]

Just you wait. In a year or so, we'll have it all. Wisser and oLeon have made valuable contributions, but there is still much work to be done. Feel free to add from your own knowledge. Every little piece counts.

> I have the feeling sharing of information is not so popular among germans

SEO is still an undeveloped science in mainland Europe compared to the English language area. That may induce people to believe that it is a good idea to hold on to their knowledge, not realizing what a small part of the total that it represents. But eventually, I think your countrymen and mine will come to the conclusion that only by sharing knowledge can they accumulate enough to make a living from being SEO experts.

I agree (unfortunately) - I would like to say itīs something about the culture: in Germany itīs not normal to share anything around your work, especially not with your competitors. Even if you could get a higher income...germans are more afraid to reduce it than to get the chance to increase it.

oLeon.

Letīs make an effort and change it.

There seem to be (german) WM around who are willing to share and network.
