i am trying to sell our flat privately through my website, and dabble in seo. i have done the keyword research for our german speaking region "immobilien state-name", "mietwohnung state-name" and so on, and have got first place and first page in most international and local engines.
my question is from the experts here, how much traffic (just from the engines) can i expect to get? i am currently getting about 40 uniques per day (very targetted). is this acceptable or should i be getting 100's or 1,000's?
i appreciate any replies and thanks:
The problem is that there are so many variables, that coming up with a "you should be at figure X" by now is all but impossible without a warehouse full of data to back it up.
My rule of thumb is that it doesn't matter how targetted you are, you should be able to pull a minimum of 100 uniques per day out of the se's. If that isn't being done, then more content is needed.
send me a quick email if you want to see what i have done, and i can let you know the exact keyword selection.
Generally speaking 40 referals for such broad terms is less than I'd expect. It depends however on the engines. Being #1 on Abacho or even AV.de doesn't mean that much.
Most referals should come from Google. I find it hard to believe you don't get more from them, if you occupy a handful of top spots on such broad terms.
Google answers some 15 Mill queries for german terms daily. "Immobilien" sits in the top 30 of most popular searches.
What I`m wondering about though is the "state-name" part of your combos. If it were for a city you'd perhaps get much more referals. If I were to search for buying an apartment, I'd probably restrict the area. Exception being of course Hamburg and Bremen, where city-name = state-name.
Another thing I`m wondering about: If you want to sell just one appartment, why would you go for such broad terms? Does your site offer what people searching for those phrases are looking for? And what about your description?
Getting a top spot does not automatically equal top referals. If the searcher sees at first glance your site is not match his interest, he won't click.
