I use [speednames.com...] for international registration. They can register all possible domains and the cost seems fair.

Use them cuz they a danish company ;)

France requires local presence, as does most European countries. You will find an overview of the presence requirements here: [webmasterworld.com...]

Our European strategy primer is a good read if you want to strengthen your European presence:

You can go here (http://www.nic.fr/prestataires/). This is a list of all the companies which are allowed to register a .fr.
The page is in french of course :)
But as Rencke says you need to have a local presence in France.

Slovak domain names are completely free. However, they do require you to be resident in Slovakia....but so far, we seemed to have been overlooked - also, I know plenty of people in Slovakia, if you want a domain registering, I could probably have a couple of words with them.

in France you can't do that because you need to have paper (Kbis extract) which prove that you have a company in France, without this paper you can't register a .fr. And name-of-your-site.fr must be the same as name-of-your-company on the paper.

They don't really care in Slovakia.
