Just wondered what is happening with Ilse's Adwords style PPC plans? The original programme is down, a new was announced - anything new?

Just to make sure: there is no PFI or PPC at this time for getting into Ilse, correct?

The text (in dutch)on this [ilsemedia.nl] page says the web interface will be up again mid 2002 ...
In the meantime people can call +31 (0)20 - 840 4640..the Ilse sales dept.

No PFI or PPC at this time.

In a interview with the number one e-business magazine in Holland the director of Ilse, Paul Molenaar, had a very negative opinion about PPC.

[emerce.nl...]

IMO I think they should introduce it as soon as possible. There are so many sponsored links in Google, and for the same keywords almost nothing at ILSE. Why pay 20 CPM at ILSE if you can pay 0,05 PPC at goolge? Soon nobody will pay ILSE anymore, especially as they are not the leading SE anymore, you will do fine without advertising on it.

In that article Molenaar speaks about ppc banners only I think, not textlinks. As the article was written before Google had their adwords (? dec. 10th 2001) I wouldn't be surprised if they change their mind (or ceo) soon. As you say Remco..not many will be interested in advertising with Ilse if they go on like this.

I never advertised with Ilse..did anyone here ever buy keywords with them and can you tell us something about the results / final costs per click ?

hi, i'm from holland, let me explain to you how to get listed in ilse.

if you want get listed #1, first go to pagina.nl , seek your subject in the search engine in dutch.

in the search results, click on the left on subject.pagina.nl or whaterver this page is called, then gently mail the webmaster if he want a link exchange, if you get listed one one of these .pagina.nl pages, you automaticly will be listed in ilse AND rank high. The more .pagina.nl link to you, the higher you rank in ilse.

this search engine is gowing down. it had 1,9 milion visitors a day a few months ago, and dropped to less than 1,0 million a day and decreasing...

i hope this info helps you

Do you mean Ilse traffic is going downwards? How come? Ilse has alsways been big in Holland right?

Google, eh?

Btw, got a link from some fresh stats? That's a hefty fall in traffic for them.

Damian, I advertised on Ilse, as the ad's are shown above the results so the clickratio is higher then on Google. They also don't call the place advertisement, but advertise which probally give's the impression it is not a sponsored link and why the ratio can be a bit higher.

With a CPM of € 30.00 and a ratio of 3% - 5% (max) the price is 1,50 - 0,90 for every deliverd visitor.

Depends a bit on what you are sellig and what your sign up ratio is, but for a lot of campaigns not interesting.

Rumbas, the latest market stats I have are Second quarter 2002:

Google: 43% (43%)
Ilse: 28 (29%)
AltaVista.nl: 4 (4%)
IxQuick.com: 4 (5%)

Do those stats reflect real life referrals from SEs?

And what comes below those 4? What about Zoek.nl and Vindex? Gone to obscurity?

I would say that Ilse is a bit bigger.

Vindex is ingnored by the users as the site is full of spam, all the domains are keyword1-keyword2.nl

Zoek.nl is selling their results and with that their marketshare.

I would say that vinden.nl also belongs as follow up in the list, together with msn and lycos.

Hi Martijn - welcome to WebmasterWorld

Actually I'd still like to see who you dutch members have as #5, #6 in your logs... who comes next to the big 4?

You should have some visitors from Vinden, MSN (where has MSN gone in the stats???) Track and Lycos, depending on the type of site you have.

New is Kobala, no stats yet but that may just be a question of time.

From yesterdays logs for several dutch sites with many pages and a few dutch language .be mirrors, for what it's worth, data from 5000+ inbound referrals.
It's of course coloured by our specific seo efforts. We have good positions at fast (lycos.nl) as well..just no traffic there..and very poor positions at ilse.nl because it's very hard get many pages indexed and ranking well (one needs directory listings for each page at pagina.nl for this).

44.0 % google (.com, .be, .nl, .de, google.yahoo.com and some others)
6.95 % skynet (skynet.be, belgacom.net, compaqnet.be)
6.65 % msn (.com, .nl , .be)
2.00 % altavista (.com , nl.altavista.com, be-nl.altavista.com )
1.01 % vinden.nl
0,86 % lycos (.nl , .com)
0,50 % ilse.nl
0,31 % ixquick.com

Announced last week but now it is also working:

The dutch Search Engine Vinden.nl offers Pay Per Click Advertising. Clicks start at EUR 0,20 with a minimum ammount of EUR 100,-. The system is powered by qualigo.de, a german company.

Example of a sponsored result:
[zoek.vinden.nl...]

Vinden say's that 97% of the visitors does not look further then the first 30 results.

Say, that's interesting, Remco. Qualigo expanding from the german speaking market...
They put up a site for the dutch market:
[qualigo.nl...]

Wonder if they have any paid listings yet...

Euro 0,20 is perhaps a bit steep for a small scale PPC offer. Vinden is not exactly the outlet to generate mass traffic.

hi,

now i have to reply, too.:-)
->heini, remco: the backfill behind the paid-links of qualigo.nl is delivered by tricus a german search provider. tricus.nl is a new search engine for the dutch people. hope the statistics from damian will change in a few month...

Ilse seems to turn to WiseGuys for spidering.

Source: www.voelspriet.nl

For our non-Dutch readers: Ilse's Paul Molenaar says they are testing the spider now and will use it for updating Ilse's database. The Startpagina-daughters will still be included and they will still use their home made ranking algo.

Good news. Probably will mean that you do not need metatag keywords anymore..

I checked Wiseguys search engine showcase: [kobala.nl...]

but that seems quite outdated..

but that seems quite outdated..

I see several sites from september and oktober 2002 but their algo doesn't seem to favour recently updated sites. Searching for 'kerstinkopen 2002' brings a 1999 newsletter on top, updated 20 september 2002?

I think the date mentioned represents the date of the last change, not te last index date.

The new Ilse can be tested at:
[campus.ilse.nl...]

If the test goes ok it will be put online at ilse.nl
