Forum Moderators: open
That means adding sites or applying to be editors won't be possible for about a week -- estimated restart date is noon PST on Monday, July 21.
So it's a good breathing space to polish up that editor application, or to complete that "under construction" site ready for the new DMOZ era!
Editor Outage
The ODP editing scripts are temporarily offline due to a system upgrade. Expect to see the editor side up and running by noon PST on Monday, July 21. The editor forums will remain open during this time. We do realize that this is inconvenient; please consider this a well-earned vacation. Thank you for your patience!
ODP Staff
Just to let you all know not to expect anything to change about your submission status for a bit - that's the message I got today when I logged into my editor account.
"The ODP public cgi scripts, including the 'add url' and 'apply to be an editor' scripts, are temporarily offline due to a system upgrade. Expect to see the scripts up and running by noon PST on Monday, July 21. We do realize that this is inconvenient; thank you for your patience.

Hope it's a change for the better.
Mack.
The new servers should keep us going for some time, and I'm pretty sure the new machines will be more reliable than the last bunch. This week's downtime is mostly so that a backup can be made of the existing server without it being affected by new submissions or editor activity. Normal (and I do mean "normal", not "reduced") service should be resumed shortly.
The editors are also getting new forum software in the next week or so, and, eventually, a new editing system. A research server has already been added, and is being used for various quality control purposes.
