My site gets lots of hits, so these figures may show pretty reliable picture of browser shares in Finland.

Internet Explorer 68.3 %
Firefox 24.6 %
Opera 3.1 %
Mozilla 2.2 %
Netscape 0.8 %
Safari 0.5 %

One thing to mention is that of the IE users about 97% use Msie 6.0,

Would be nice to see some statistics from other countries.

UK, site gets 6,000 unique p/month, browser stats:

IE6 - 65%
IE5 - 7%
NS4 - 4%
NS6 - 4%
NS5 - 1%

Rest of percentage made up by others (IE7,IE4,Opera). No activity (or very little) from Firefox browsers!

Are you sure your stats program is up to date Colly? That looks like an odd spread.

U.S., very general audience, 4000+ uniques in September:

IE: 73.9%
Firefox: 15.3%
NN: 6.2%

Other 4.6% shared evenly in pretty much negligible percentages for several other browsers (which I still test for anyway). Strange to say, Opera hardly makes an appearance on my site, only generating 0.3% of my total hits. This despite the fact that the site works perfectly in Opera . . . very strange.

Of IE users, better than 98% are using 6.0, which is a very comforting statistic to know. As a matter of fact, it looks like I can give up IE 5 support altogether, and take support for 5.5 down to the "marginal" priority level.

But of the NN users, well over 90% are back on version 4.7. Oh, well, they're getting an unstyled page, and I guess they're satisfied with it, because they keep coming back!

Yep, the site in question is a disability \ accessibility related site and most of the users are old (dare I say), non-internet literate - my guess is that 90% of them haven't even heard of FF..

Here are the stats from a site which is viewed from all over the world (but mainly US). This was collected from July - September 2005 from roughly 800,000 visitors.

60.3% Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x
19.4% Yahoo! Slurp
8.9% Mozilla
4.5% Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x
1.8% Netscape Navigator 4.x
1.0% Netscape Navigator 7.x
0.5% Unknown
0.5% Opera 8.x
0.5% Netscape Navigator 3.x
0.5% Opera 7.x

One very non-tech site:

MS Internet Explorer 89.2 %
Firefox 5.6 %
Safari 2.4 %
Mozilla 2.4 %
Netscape 0 %
Opera 0 %
Konqueror 0 %

The IE breakdown is:

Msie 6.0 88.4 %
Msie 5.5 0.1 %
Msie 5.23 0 %
Msie 5.16 0.2 %
Msie 5.01 0.3 %
Msie 5.0 0 %

The site works perfectly in IE5+ as well as Moz/FF/Safari (all versions) and Opera 7+. Reduced styling but fully functional in NN3+ and IE3+.

I'm struggling to find any of my sites where IE5 usage is anywhere near 1%. It's just about dead as far as I'm concerned.
