My new favorite extension (if it existed) would be one to organize the others, that is, to put their options all in one place under the Tools menu. I was a little offended that the Del.icio.us extension saw fit to give itself a whole new column in my browser's menu, and next to Help! (I got rid of it, of course.)
GreaseMonkey
FoxyLicious
SwitchProxy
SEOpen
GM's one of my favourites, you can mangle any page any way you want. I wrote one script to add a couple of tabs to my CJ account, including changing the Mail tab to show the number of new messages. There are lots of scripts on the net, especially for Gmail (integration with calendar, highlight tags, force https)
FoxyLicious integrates your del.icio.us bookmarks into your local bookmarks sorted by tag.
I've also got one at work that I can't remember the name of, it shows the IP address and originating ASN of the web page you're on.
- SessionSaver (save all open windows, with crash recoveery)
- Document Map (view heading structure in a sidebar)
- Server Spy (nothing special, just displays the server type in the status bar)
- View Source Chart (nicely formatted source code)

They are great.
Stylish [addons.mozilla.org]
It does much more than let you customise your favourite sites by domain!
Globally you can block ads, block background music(and most other downloads), kill those annoying blink/marquee elements etc.
It does what userContent.css/userChrome.css do but it's easier to get to, changes are instant and it can be enabled/disabled on a per site basis more easily!
Keyconfig - Because backspace should delete the character to the left, not your entire post because some genius decided it should navigate back a page.
Menu Editor - Tools Menu - Alphabetically listed, separator, Options.
NewTabURL - A power user has their own custom built homepage with everything they need immediately at their disposal.
Paste and Go - Behold the power of, well the not power of not being linked...
Tab X - Close a tab without having to bring focus to it.
User Agent Switcher - Great for emulated testing in many situations.
Web Developer Toolbar - What isn't useful about this extension?
