Althought the Satay method does seem to work for me, I have found that when loading external swf movies into the main flash movie, the frame rate (of the externally loaded movie) drops below the acceptable in Mozilla and Firefox.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I mean hiding the <embed> tag from Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox - isn't that just a neat way of 'cheating' the validator?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, jamal.

Basically, yes. Flash Satay brings with it several disadvantages, including flaky support on several platforms which should support flash without problems.

Personally, if the flash movie is the only thing which doesn't validate, I would use the old invalid markup recommended by Macromedia.

Many thanks,

But it is pretty essential for me, that the page validates. If no other option, I might go for the hide <embed> script rather than just use the invalid MM code.
