FireFox 1.5.0.1 Is Slow!

I've uninstalled the extensions to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this?

IE, Netscape, and Opera are loading pages quickly, but FireFox is very slow.

Any ideas why this may be?

I have already tried uninstalling extensions. It didn't help.

Just try reinstalling Firefox altogether. It shouldn't be anything inherent in the program.

I've already tried that too. I even tried installing 1.5 instead of 1.5.0.1.

I'll keep trying other options, and update this post if I come up with a solution.

Instead of reinstalling the main program ave you tried creating a new profile? Start Firefox with the flag -p (i.e. if you're on a window's pc do Start / Run / cmd and type "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -p"). That'll bring up the profile manager which'll let you create a fresh one.

Have you tried cleaning up your downloads? Old download data can cause problems.

How many times have you upgraded without creating a new profile? That can cause a lot of problems, although it's getting much better in recent versions. A new profile only takes a few minutes to create and adjust to your old preferences, so I'd give that a try if I were you. Do you know how to back up and restore your bookmarks?

I'm going to try the new profile option once I make it home. I'm at the office right now.

I'll update the thread once I give this option a try.

Thanks!

Please advise how you go about creating a new profile.
FF here (an older version)
is gettinhg slower and slower. Thunderclunk email nearly brings my system to a halt. -Larry

Start > Run

Enter: firefox.exe -profilemanager

This will launch the profile manager. Simply add a new profile.

Important Note: Make sure you export your bookmarks so that you can import them into the new profile. Also, make note of your extensions and themes so that you can reinstall them for the new profile.
