Geotargetting On - Earnings Down, Way Down

I just started using phpAdsNew to geotarget YPN to US visitors only. My earnings fell dramatically. Is anyone else experiencing this? I guess I was getting more international traffic/clicks than I thought, but my logs show ~97% US traffic. How accuarte is phpAdsNew geotargetting?

phpadsnew uses GeoIP database for it's geotargeting. It is suppose to be around 99% effective.

The thing is though, GeoIP states they update the IPs every month or so and recommend you to download the .dat file each time and use it because IP addresses change so often.

phpadsnew uses an older version of GeoIP.dat which could cause many ip addresses to get switched around. So, I recommend going to maxmind and downloading the new GeoIP.dat file and placing it where the original file in phpadsnew is so it will use the new database.

Even then, still not 100% sure how accurate it truly is. I would say around 90 or 95% accurate.

Just got the latest GeoIP.dat file from MaxMind. I hope it helps.

Since URLs arent allowed i cant post it but search Google and you will find another free Geo targeting tool but however you should integrate it with PhpMyads

I had a very similar drop in earnings when I setup geo targeting...but I implemented it right during the time yahoo network had serious problems...so it's hard to determine whats really going on.

you should have an alternate adsense campaign set up for the non-u.s.a. traffic, so that you don't lose any earnings potential... phpadsnew will simply re-rout the traffic to either ypn or adsense, depending on the country location.

that way you don't have to be too concerned about how accurate the geoip database is.
