Spider Language

Do spiders have a specific language associated to them?

Good evenging guys:

I have been in webmasterworld for 5 minutes and I am extremely impressed. Honestly!!
We have a site with 3 different languages and by identifying the users language from the browser, we show it in English, Spanish or German. I've been having problems because when I have summited my site to German search engines, they have picked up the English title, description, etc. How could I identify the language of a spider and therefore show the corresponding language?

What is the best way to deal with 3 different languages in a site?

Thanks guys!

Good morning sweeties

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. Warning this site is addictive! :)

The best way to deal with language issues is to split your site in 3 and get a distinct domain for each one.

If you use the "site search" feature you will find many archived treads about this issue.

Enjoy!

Hi sweeties
MacGuru is of course absolutely right. The benefits of having the alternative language versions in own domains will outweigh the additional work and costs almost for sure.
In the meantime you could try two things:
- directly submit the language specific pages
- try to have strong links pointing directly to language specific pages.

The question is what will happend with the URL of submitted pages and all strong inboud links, after the site is split in 3 distinct languages with theyre own domain names?

I guess more job will have to be done twice...

heini, flattery will get you nowhere, but, please, keep on trying! :)

Most stuff I know came from this community.

Thanks to all!
