I've noticed the same log, I was thinking it was the paid for index spider from positiontech [positiontech.com]. <not sure though>

It's not PT. I've seen it show up constantly on sites that are not in the PT program. I'll have to dig through a log for more info because I didn't spend much time looking at it, but I don't think it's anything new. Just a name change.

There is a "KiteHourly" too.. Only hits select sites from what I've seen. Not sure about the weekly but the hourly has been around for a long time not associated with PT.

Does anyone have any new info on KiteHourly? This thing hits my site between 10 30 times per day. Any idea as to its purpose?

The only thing that I've found common about the hourly bot is that it hits sites which have been in the SEO industry for some time. That bot does not follow links from what I've seen (at least directly), I think it's more like a tracerlock type spider watching for changes on select sites.
