So is this an indexing spider, non-indexing, not a spider? Somehow I got the great job of making these decisions at my work and I am just a spider novice. Please help!

Hi,

Welcome to WmW.

I think I remember being hit by these guys once or twice before, but they didn't stick around long enough, or access enough files to make me take much notice.

Do you get any useful information when you visit the relevare.com website?

Is there a reply from bumblebee@relevare.com when you write them for more information on their spider?

It would be interesting to know what you find.

Thanks,

Jim

Yeah - I've read it but it is a lot of technical info for me. I ust want to know if it is indexing or not.

Here's what I found from the site under "What we do" > "Index the web"
relevare.com/htmlsite/indextheweb.htm [relevare.com]

"Filtering
Relevare has developed an Intelligent Spider that can trawl the Web and pre-process the massive volumes of
data that it has to go through to select out the truly useful and usable information that is buried on the Web.
The Relevare Web Index is updated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Relevant Content
"Meta-tags and Keywords are ignored because the Spider assesses content directly. As an example of the
intelligence built into the Relevare Spider, it will reject URL's that host pornography and only return to check out
those URL's once every six months. Methodologies such as this mean that the Relevare Web Index can be
kept fresh and up to date."

Hope this helps,

Jim
