Host: crawl-66-249-66-39.googlebot.com

Referer: -
Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

seemed to have preceded an average crawl by "host 66.249.66.39" with Mediapartners-Google/2.1 and the Mozilla/5.0...Googlebot/2.1, but this particular hit shows "host: crawl-66-249-66-39.googlebot.com" withought a referer.

part of big-daddy, or has this one been out a while?

Haven't seen -39/.39 but did just see its cousin:

crawl-66-249-66-82.googlebot.com
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

No referer, but I can't recall any .googlebot.com hit having one.

FWIW, that followed close on the heels of:

64.233.172.18

That's Google, too -- and it hit with a long, now-Google-owned writely.com referer:

http:// www.writely.com/RawDocContents.aspx?docID=[edited]&justBody=false
&revision=_latest&timestamp=[edited]&invitation=undefined&editMode=true

(Sheesh. Not another way to scrape 'n' save 'n' serve -- 'n' (c) be damned?!)

I've been seeing so many odd hits from bare Google IPs lately that I'm not sure what to make of them -- real or bot? If they're bots, they're going where they're not supposed to. And if they're real, they're not going where they want to.
