Don't recall seeing this previously?

Possibly a tool bar.

Only grabbed robots and two pages on my smaller site.

Here too. I just can't get a warm fuzzy feel from this one. I took out 204.8.168.0/22. It somehow just makes me feel better. :)

I think that it is what is suggests - a robot looking for content about diamonds.

I have a page that profiles a penny stock for a diamond (speculator). The robot visited yesterday and grabbed only that page along with robots.txt.

Judging by the other "undercurrents" relating to this stock I would not put nafarious activity to originate from this source - see previous posts relating to gator et al.

I meant the spam-like activity would NOT be beyond the originator of this robot!

DiamondBot has also spidered my pages repeatedly, which have nothing to do with diamonds :)

They probably are just categorizing sites so that they know which ads to show visitors to your site... or which sites to pop-under an advertisers ad... whenever a visitor with their "enhancements" surfs to your site. They get nothing but 403's from me. ;)

Doing a little more research on the antics of claria (Gator) I see what all the fuss is about.

Is there anything that can be done (on your site) to stymie these guys? idoc seems to indicate that there is.

Not that it is a problem for me (yet) but I am more than happy to pass on tips to those that it does.
