Hi,

For a few weeks now, I have been spidered a lot by something/someone with the following IP address: 81.3.11.78

When I do a query for this I do get some information:
[ripe.net...]

but this is all I know.. It seems it does not obey my robots file, so if somebody could help me..

Thanks

Welcome to WebmasterWorld :)

What's the user agent?

Thanks for welcoming me :)

The user agent is:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040817

I would deny the IP range.
The User-agent is fake, it has been around some of my sites, too.
Additionally, searching the company name reveals some forums about dialers.

Regarding that user agent.
It may be the following?

Mozilla Engine based browsers
For example Galeon or Skipstone
The final Gecko is the version of the Gecko rendering engine,
So this may help you work out what the user agent is

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8a3) Gecko/20040817
So it appears that the user agent is Mozilla based, running the Gecko rendering engine, Win NT and American based.

Not sure if this helps but it may be a satrt for you.

Indeed, the user-agent itself is consistent.
But not with that behavior.
