My site statistics show that google has recently been to my site, but when I type in my url to google, the old index page is still the cached page. Has google really updated and spidered my site?

They may have updated and spidered your site, but just didn't update the cached or they spidered your site and just haven't updated it live yet. Sometimes they will show your old cached site even that they alreadly updated your ranking.
