It's a request from a mobile phone or a WAP-enabled pocket computer. Google translates your HTML into WAP for these devices.

Those of you who are using a spider trap should make provisions to NOT ban this type of user-agent if it fetches pages disallowed in robots.txt - These devices tend to "prefetch" pages and resources, and since they are not robots, they don't pay attention to robots.txt.

Others are AvantGo and Blazer.

These user-agents should be redirected to a "safe" dummy file, or to a page that requires a username/password login to keep them out of trouble.

If you have Opera handy (only major browser that does WAP) you can try it yourself [wap.google.com...]

(interestingly enough, Brett seems to block the wap proxy - not sure if that's a good idea or bad)
