I've been reading webmasterworld for about two months now. I decided to sign up and ask a question since I cannot find the answer.

For the past two days, I've been getting regular visits by the UA "readwebpage". A couple of odd things are occurring. First, they are calling up the exact same obscure page which does not contain much content and is pretty buried in my site. My logs show them calling this page directly (no other pages) and not via a search engine. Secondly, they are using different IPs which are assigned to totally different comms networks. This is an example of a log entry:

24.159.20.112 - - [10/Aug/2003:14:36:16 -0500] "GET /variables/startminvar.htm HTTP/1.1" 200 2245 "-" "readwebpage"
24.159.20.112 - - [10/Aug/2003:14:36:19 -0500] "GET /variables/startminvar.htm HTTP/1.1" 200 2245 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; Hotbar 4.3.1.0)"

The browser type slightly changes across the networks. These are the IPs that have been used so far:
24.114.201.218
208.187.23.66
24.69.255.205
24.159.20.112
206.116.143.171
161.139.66.129
213.123.172.31

There are no entries for accessing the stylesheet which makes me think this is a bot of some type. I did a search here and two individuals mentioned seeing this same UA back in Oct 02 and Mar 03 with yet different IPs again but no details on what this is.

My question is has anyone else run into this UA and/or know what this thing is?

I suspect the first hit at goggle is applicable.
Although I'm just guessing. Perhaps somebody else will come along and provide a better answer?
