<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="nav.htm" TAG="BODY" startspan -->
<!--webbot bot="Include" endspan i-checksum="39162" -->

I saw this on someones website. Can someone elaborate on it? I am trying to understand web bots and how to have people's sites get better results. I use Webposition Gold but need to know more about Bots.

It's a markup note for a site made in Frontpage.

It's actually an instruction to include the file nav.htm at the position where you saw the comment.

Frontpage uses things called 'webbots' to modify the code when a site is published, enabling features like includes and FP's publishing system.

It is not actually anything to do with bots in the search engine spider meaning of the term.

Thanks for the reply. Then when it comes to trying to control webbots, it is best to just create the robots.txt file?
