I noticed the following user-agent in my logs from yesterday:
Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; Intelliseek; [whizbang.com...]

Looking at their website, I found the following service they provide:

Strengthens and protects corporations' valuable brand equity by providing early-warning/rumor management insight and consumer feedback on new product development and brands.

Also, in a press release (at [inxight.com...] from Inxight Software, I found the following:

Intelliseek will use this technology, along with its own proprietary technology, to automatically extract company related information from millions of Web sites.

This sounds like a brand protection service to me.

ScottMcG,

What's are the IPs shown in your logs so that we can block them with .htaccess?

The user-agent for Intelliseek as morphed. I noticed the following in my webserver logfile:

64-158-138-50.intelliseek.com [20/Mar/2003:00:39:46 -0600] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.1" 200 168 "-" "Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; BlogPulse; [whizbang.com...]

Unfortunately, I was unable to find additional information regarding this agent.

It hit my site about 2 weeks ago. Took the pages at a reasonable rate and respected robots.txt

From what I have read up about it it cawls the web at random lookiing for copyright and brand violation.

Personally I've lost my tolerance for this entire backbone.
They CONSISTENTLY offer nothing except pests.
