Only started seeing this Scooter bot recently.

Google's spidering of images and PDF's taught me some valuable lessons.
After way too many hits of a google listing of an JPG which had a name?
I moved ALL my images to a robots.text disallow folder and numbered all images and pdf's numerically.
It has and does create some extra work, however the result has been almost ZILCH for links to images.

Thanks, wilderness...

I didn't even know AV had a pdf 'bot!

For some reason AV doesn't like me anymore - Scooter's gone missing for a month, and AV lists only my home page - Not losing huge traffic over it, though. Not like two years ago...

Jim,
Although the Scooter/AV bots spider my sites continuously :-(
I only get perhaps a couple of dozen referrals monthly.

They are not the SE they once were.

BTW most of my PDF's are 128 bit encryted any way. It doesn't do them much good. The down side is that it results in visitors reloading the PDF's because the printing and cut and paste are turned off.
