Not really sure where this comes in to the scheme of things (not really a search engine issue) but I am getting a number of heartbeat requests from hosts. Nothing big - just the same page request from the same host every 5 minutes in one case and 8 minutes in another. These hosts are completely separate networks. This heart beat has gone on now for over 48 hours. That is 50kb x ((48*60)/8 or 5) = 18 and 29 Mb of data!
Can't add these to my trap - they might be nice visitors with their machine left on!
Any ideas?
Cheers
Scott
PS Sorry if this is off-topic, not sure where it should go otherwise.
You could try the "Webmaster General" forum for this one. Do you have any
more info on the page requests? What user agent are they using? Have you
followed the IP addresses back to see who they are assigned to?
Could be users with the "Synchronize this web page on a schedule" option turned
on in Internet Explorer, but that's just a guess without any other info...
