Hi all

I've lurked for a while, but now I have a valid question, it's time to post.

We're an SEO company in the UK, and one of our clients is using a programme called Spiderbait/Spider Bait to hide the ? in their database driven URLs from spiders. It would seem to have worked so far. But I can't find much out about how it works, so I have 2 questions:

a) has anyone heard of it/used it, and does it work?

b) is it a legitimate practise from a search engine perspective or has it been banned?

All help gratefully received!
Thanks
Charon

Don't know about Spiderbait, but removing the question marks from the url can be done with mod_rewrite. You don't need to buy any software for that.

Search this forum for "mod rewrite" and you'll find how to do it

Here's an interseting thread:

And one solution without mod_rewrite:

>legitimate practise
depends how you use it I guess..

Thanks Damien, we gave them that and lots of other options but they wanted to use this one. And as it's a new thing to us, we're keen to see if it really works, or if it's been banned yet!

Cheers
