No prizes for guessing I'm new to this.
Following cropped up in IIS4 logfiles, the line break messes them up! No shtml files on site. Same IP hitting same time every day, just the one hit. DNS Lookup suggest a private business - i mean not SE related.

GET /index.shtml <B>Failed+to+process+SSI+file+'/index.shtml'</B><BR>
404 164 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+4.01;+MSIECrawler;+Windows+NT) - -

Thanks in advance.

hi MarkArt,
welcome to the forum!
the "MSIECrawler" seems to be some kind of addon, it appears on
MSIE 4.0, 4.01 / WinNT and 95 (maybe others, too, but i haven't seen those.)

(reminds me of the "MS Search 4.0 Robot" [webmasterworld.com] , i wrote an email to M$ asking what
it was but they got my question wrong. i rephrased my question,
asked again but never got an answer :()
