Howdy,

I just saw this IP on the logs 64.210.196.195. It is Mozilla/4.0 compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows NT. I did a whois, but am still confused. This did not appear to be a spider, search engine on the whois, so why would I get this IP looking for my robots.text?

Can anyone help?

Pink ;-)

Ok now I got giraffes too! So lemme get this straight, whoever was browsing was using a giraffe and their ISP provider was Global Crossing? Is that right?

Thanks for the welcome by the way.

This could be someone doing a "save complete page as" using ie on winNT. From what I've seen IE looks at robots.txt before saving...

Any idea what version of IE this started with Josk?

I occassionally see a single log entry for robots text and feel quite uncomfortable with that.
Especially when the IP routes to a general user.

To what end does IE look at the robots.txt file? Is there some way to prevent a save complete?

I think it started in vs 4. Its a good idea in theory (like most ms products) but can get very confusing. If a entity has a MSIE ua and only gets one page, I tend to ignore them. If they get lots, they get a very close look...
