Hi,
I have a flash video in my website, basically encoded in flash 7 sorenson spark codec medium quality, and embedded in a page using dreamweaver. My question is that there is a noticeable delay in displaying the flash video... and thats abt 5 seconds of delay. Some other sites which deploy flash video(i checked on my machine0 doesnt have this delay)

and in some computers i get a weird error
"Some of the MIME types previously associated with the Quicktime plugin are currently associated with other application. Should i restore these MIME type associations to quicktime"

Irrespective if i click yes or no, the video doesnt play. And for some reason this happens only in IE for windows, the ones without SP1. anybody seen this issue.

i dont know why your vid doesn't play but that error message is computer specific. Basically its just Windows on that computer saying that some other program (maybe Windows Media Player or RealPlayer) re-assigned quickTime extensions (.mov, etc) to be used with something else other than quickTime. It's not something you can control as its dependant on the end users configuration.

As for the 5 second delay. You can try one of two things.

1) Reduce the overall file size.
2) Create a preloader in flash for the movie so at least instead of the delay they see a progress bar or animation while the movie is being downloaded.

regards,
mcm
