I've read that one way of optimising a flash site is by creating a Flash/HTML hybrid site.

Apparently, unless the site is a web application itself, then you can break up the elements into multiple SWF files. This allows you to use html for your content area and Flash for your web apps, navigation elements etc.

I think what this means is that I can have an HTML page with a bit of Flash on it. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Victoria.

You can insert multiple Flash movies within one HTML page. Think about how you insert an image in a Web page. It's not the same code, but it's the same process. You just insert the Flash code, where you want it to appear in your page.
